Digital therapy to combat a shortage of skilled labor.

Physiotherapy practices are facing an above-average shortage of skilled labor, a challenge that we are responding to with Vipana.

Our goal is to create a digital platform that connects practices with student interns, where trainees can be tracked down and secured as the skilled workers of the future. To do this, we have formed a brand that meets the economic needs of regional practices and simultaneously inspires job seekers.

Approach

First, we created a concept for a website and app. The visual language, UX/UI, and tonality had to mobilize a heterogenous target group. An upstream competition and market analysis delivered game-changing data for the design.

The app and website were then developed and realized in-house. A high-performance database connected to an intuitively navigable dashboard would ensure that monitoring and invoicing functioned smoothly. The scalability of the code was also of central importance; depending on the requirements of the market, supplementing the tool with additional features is possible without difficulty. The result was a service that is easy to manage and can be flexibly integrated into the everyday processes of the practice.

Usability is also crucial for Vipana’s success. An intuitive matching system brings practices and registered users together efficiently. All steps, from the search to initiation and contact, can be conducted within the app. A special web interface for instructors allows Vipana to be seamlessly integrated into teaching. We have also further minimized initial hurdles for student interns by offering the service free of charge. Vipana is financed using a subscription model for physiotherapy practices.

Result

Vipana is now being actively used in over 100 practices to secure the supply of skilled labor over the long term, and an increasing number of job seekers are finding their internship using Vipana.

Alongside the coherent user guidance with its matching system, the payment model has proved to be the right choice. Vipana is profitable, while the costs to practices are a worthwhile investment in the future thanks to the fresh supply of skilled labor.

In the meantime, we are working on establishing Vipana in other regions. To achieve this, we are present at specialist trade fairs and are in contact with practices. We are also constantly expanding the app in terms of functionality and features; since 2022, participating practices can publish their vacancies directly in the app. In addition, we are considering extending Vipana’s services to occupational therapy and speech therapy.
